Take II. Okay, last night I went to see The Avalanches. Jesus Christ, it was a full on "Orgasm On The Dance Floor Evening." Those guys absolutely rock. They were BLEEPING AWESOME. I still don't quite understand how they manage to pump up whirling music of such incredible energy and just when you think you can't possibly handle any more, they multiply that energy by 1000 and the music positively explodes into something even more powerful. I'm so glad I picked this gig for Gail. She loves bands and dancing/clubbing, so this was the perfect way to do both at the same time.

That said, I had a wonderful time overall, but I did manage to embarass myself greatly. Gail and I only stayed until 12.30 am because I had work today and couldn't stay out late, though Gail and I did stay up till 3am to have our very girly non-girly chats. It was on our way out of Sydney Uni that I managed to pull a big DOH. That night I'd had a couple guys touch my arm/back and be like, "hey, where ya going" and I'd had enough . For some reason I get hit on a lot when I go to the toilets. Do I give off some sort of sexy pre-pee or post-pee pheremones? I mean, really.

So by the time we were leaving, I was ready to go and no one was gonna get in my way. On our way out, we passed by these guys playing pool and one of them grabbed my arm and was like, "hey!" and I paused long enough to throw him a rueful glare and said, "sorry, I'm leaving!" and kept on walking. Pretty soon after I realised that Gail wasn't behind me. I turned around and saw her and she said, "He says he knows you!" I was like, what the hell? So I go back and look at him and he looks vaguely familiar and as he walks toward me, I'm thinking, "Hmm..where have I seen him before." And then it hits me. DOH. I am such an asshole that I didn't immediately recognise a guy I went out with a couple times in November and spent a good hour smooching on our first official "date". Ooops. I mean, it's not like I've got too many dates to keep track of. And me smooching anyone on the first date is rare, so, that should have made a lasting impression.

Ummm, "Sorry, I didn't recognise you without your tongue down my throat!"

I was extremely embarassed. In my own defense, I say it's the bastard's fault. I think part of why I didn't recognise him was that he now has hair. He'd had it shaved for close to his head last time I saw him and now it's grown out a bit. Yeah, that's it. Anyhoo I felt extra bad cause I hadn't returned his phone calls or e-mails as of late. I was just praying he wouldn't introduce himself with his nick name. Gail knew of him and I didn't want her to say, "Oh you're (insert boy's nick name here). Luckily, he used his full name and we had a bit of an awkward chat but I kept things rolling and just kept talking so no one could figure much out.

So he's gonna call me yadda yadda, but I really don't think we should go out again. I don't get a vibe from him at all. He's cute, but that's all I can gather and that's not enough..I can't even tell if his lights are on or if anybody's home. How annoying is that?

Anyway, Gail and I had a good laugh later when I told her who he was.

The best and funniest part was when I was chatting with Gail and The Boy and this other guy came up to me to tell me that he thought I was a great dancer....hahaahaahaahaaha. I've got them all fooled!

God damn!
I just lost a novella of a blog!

I have like the world's lowest blood pressure. According to one doctor, I have the blood pressure of a 6 year old...yet I think I developed high blood pressure today. Long story.

Anyhoo, the cockroaches at work LOVE my desk. I got the baby ones and the adolescent ones today. Those suckers are everywhere. I don't open up my drawers anymore. Too scary.

I'm very excited because tomorrow I'm going to dance my ass off at Sydney Uni to the musical sounds of The Avalanches along with Gail and a Very Cool Gal with a consistently hilarious blog. And she has impeccable taste in music. :)

Then on Sunday, it's time for TROPFEST! Unfortunately Adrian and Scott and the awesome Shay & Crew did not make the finalists cut, dammit (I really wanted to see if the back of my head made it into the the final cut!

I had an AWESOME writing class last night. Very inspirational, very fun, very supportive...I predict I will actually be doing more writing soon. All the ideas are sort of swirling around...nearly into something solid.

Today I remembered that I have quite the little temper when I get going...it's very rare that it comes out, but every now and then---GRRRRRRR!

Okay, stupid Yankee Trick of the day: I went to go to the Sydney City Library near Town Hall tonight to see if I could sign up for a library card...okay, actually I was going to the WEA library to return/renew a book. While I was there I figured I should get a library card so I could try to get my hands on the 4th Harry Potter book. I circled around that whole damn place like 3 times and I never saw an actual entrance to the library. Am I blind? Am I stupid? Was it just too late? (After 8pm). I felt like a moron and there wasn't even anyone around to ask...do I deserve a visa when I can't even find the door of the library? Hmmm....

p.s. Auuuugggghhh! I finished the third book in the Harry Potter series. Dammit....I am hooked. I'm gonna have to get that great big fourth one--you know, the one that's bigger than the Bible?

I am also reading Message From Forever and as always, I read bits and pieces of Mutant Message Down Under and Sophie's World every so often. I can never stay away long from those two.

I am going to have to take my sweet time reading the 4th Harry Potter book as nothing depresses me more nor makes me happier than knowing that there's another book in the series, but it's not written yet!

Today I spent most of the day listening to or hanging around at the "Rainbow" Fair at Victoria Park. I live nearby so I heard it first thing this morning. It was a fun mix of people and couples and it was nice to see guys and guys and girls and girls be able to hold hands and kiss and whatever else so freely. I do have a couple questions however.

1. Pets. Everyone and their mother brought their dogs today, most of which had rainbow collars, rainbow bows, rainbow leashes etc. What exactly are we saying here? Are the pets wearing rainbow colours because they support gays and lesbians or are the pets gay too? Do pet owners even realise if they're pets are in fact gay?

2. Goths. I am all for people being able to wear whatever they want and do what they want...I am not here to judge...but for the love of God...it is just too damn hot to be a goth in Sydney summer! Jeeeeeez! I thought the same thing at the BDO and I'm here to say it again...there's nothing wrong with being a goth, but maybe summer is the ideal time to "take a break from being goth."

On a funny note, despite all the incredibly eccentric and eclectic little specimans floating around today, I think Heather and I got the funniest looks today--"what are those two girls doing together?" Nah, seriously, they do a nice job at the Fair. Good atmosphere, happy people, good attitude, lovely area, and the best people-watching action in the city. I picked up some complimentary flavoured condoms (strawberry!), lube, and regular lubricated condoms. I should have asked what the expiry date was on everything cause lord knows I never have sex!
